Forum Software Has Been Updated! (And new theme!)

With the help of our wonderful technical admin, PosiCat, we have been able to successfully update to the latest version of SMF! He has also very graciously helped modify a theme that will work for the new version. (All the ready-made SMF themes out for our updated version were absolutely atrocious!)

Thanks for the help, Posi, and enjoy the new theme, everyone!

Yes, this should be the last update for a while. We had a long overdue update before, and shortly after a new version happened to come out. That's why everything happened with almost no break in between.

Unfortunately, the nature of the beast is updates are necessary for security but has a tendency to mess up other moving parts. I do like the change though (it actually appears to work better on mobile than before, even if I typically use tapatalk).

the new system feels really nice, previews no longer refresh my page!!! though the theme will take time getting used to (orange felt nicer personally, but maybe that's because i like that color) the background is really relaxing, i really like that a lot.

the only thing that feels out of place is the quote backgrounds. the dark green feels really odd. (the text on it is hard for me to read too, but i'm also half asleep as i write this...)
if you want to keep the green, my suggestion would be to change the color from #212C11 to #A0D3AE, as well as darken quote text to #565656. (preview of what that looks like)
i think it looks much nicer, but i am an amateur when it comes to color-matching and stuff, so someone else might have a better idea.

This'll take a little getting used to. Haha. Things are a little harder to read certain places but it's ok I'll get used to it ^w^

the blue feels a lot nicer on my eyes so that's cool. i also really like the background. i also love how previews no longer refresh the page, i'm really liking this update.

I honestly don't love the green for quotes either, but he will have to change it, not me. The issue is, most themes are pre-set for SMF, and this forum is nothing like ProBoards  or other free hosting boards in that I can't just go in and edit the HTML codes through boxes. This requires actual coding.

You can also override the default theme for the forum. There are several other color schemes available. Go to your profile, and then Modify Profile > Look and Layout. From there, under Current Theme, you can change it to one of the other preset themes.

I know it is, but there's nothing I can do about it at the moment, until our technical administrator gets time.
